Where

Monterey, California

What

Leak detection and condition assessment of PVC Forcemain with suspected leak

  • Long distance between access points

Project Overview

KenWave was contracted by the Region of Peel (Peel) and CIMA+ to perform non-destructive condition assessment of two 6 inch (150 mm) DI watermains. KenWave evaluated the 1975 DI watermains located at Jill Crescent and Conquest Drive in the Region of Peel. Up to 250 m pipeline was inspected at each location.

Results

  • First segment had cross-correlations of reflections suggest a pipe laying length of 5.7m ±.375m or about 6 m between joints
  • Variability was slightly lower than for the first segment, with 0.6 mm between maximum and minimum wall thicknesses and a 7.6% variability in wall strength
  • No indication of significant flow obstruction at either location which would indicate valve malfunction
